July 18, 2019           Akiko Tsuruga

Dubbed the "Queen of the Organ" by NEA Jazz master, Lou Donaldson, Akiko Tsuruga, hails from Osaka, Japan, and studied a the Osaka College of Music.  With ten albums to her credit, "Sweet and Funky" was selected as "Best Album 2007" by DOWNBEAT magazine and named "Best Organ" in the 2017 Hot House Magazine Reader's Poll.



July 25, 2019              Chembo Corniel

A 2009 Grammy nominee, percussionist Chembo Corniel was born and raised in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, NY.  A  native of Puerto Rico, he honed his skills at the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts, and also studied with the great Chucho Valdes.  Chembo's most recent release, "Land of the Descendants," is a kaleidoscope of diverse musical expressions from across "The Americas."



August 1, 2019          Etienne Charles

Trumpeter, bandleader and educator, Etienne Charles is one of the most compelling and exciting young jazz artists ushering the genre into groundbreaking new territory.  He has recorded three impressive and well-received albums for his own Culture Shock Music imprint.  His new album, "Creole Soul," is a captivating journey of new jazz expression.



August 8        Vanessa Rubin

Vanessa Rubin is an American jazz vocalist and composer.  Revered as both a torchbearer and a storyteller, she possesses a voice that has crystalline clarity, heart-like warmth and playful lioness "sass."  This Cleveland, Ohio, native recently released her seventh CD: "The Dream is You: Vanessa Rubin Sings Tadd Dameron."
