Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Newark International Film Festival founder Kenneth Gifford discussed the 
fourth annual Newark International Film Festival will be held in September of 2019 stated a press release from the City of Newark. The film festival procured greater than 800 film submissions from an estimated 70 countries. Local filmmakers are scheduled to attend the Newark International Film Festival. 

The Newark International Film Festival is scheduled to show films on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 through Sunday, September 8, 2019. The film festival is showing films at various "venues across the city of Newark, including 744 Broad Street, the Hahne & Company Building, New Jersey Institute of Technology, The Newark Museum, Essex County College, Rutgers University-Newark, and CityPlex 12 on Springfield Avenue, with the Awards Show being held at Newark Symphony Hall, " stated the press release from the City of Newark's Mayor's Office


11,000 people watched films last year at the Newark International Film Festival. "The returning cast of celebrities for the 2019 Film festival includes the Tate Brothers, Lance Gross, Kim Hawthorne, Lamman Rucker, Julian Brittano, Tobias Truvilion, and JD Williams. Eva Marcielle, Comedian Hassan Oliver, and Actor Steven Strickland will co-host the Awards Show on Sunday, September 8, 2019," stated the press release from the City of Newark's Mayor's Office.
