The Miami Marlins Have the Ingredients to Nourish Miami Dade College Undergraduate Students who are the First to Attend College in their Family

The Miami Marlins' philanthropic moments are the best. The MLB team in Miami welcomes philanthropy.  Wellness, Empowerment, and Youth Baseball & Softball are the mission of the Miami Marlins Foundation.  The Miami Marlins Foundation nourished the youth of South Florida with a $30,000 donation, last week,  to Miami Dade College (MDC) to design the Miami Marlins First Generation Scholarship Endowment for undergraduates who are the  first in their families to attend college.  Mister Bruce Sherman, Chairman and Principal Owner of the Miami Marlins MLB team, C.E.O. Derek Jeter, former NY Yankee shortstop, and percentage minority owner Mister Michael Jordan promise a dedication to philanthropy in the city of Miami. Mister Michael Jordan is the only ethnic minority to own a majority of an NBA Team.  Mister Jordan owns the Charlotte Hornets NBA basketball team. Is a football team going to be the next business they buy?

“With a commitment to empower South Florida youth, we are excited to partner with Miami Dade College to provide support and opportunities to deserving individuals from our community,” said Raquel “Rocky” Egusquiza, Executive Director of Miami Marlins Foundation. “Many of our community’s leaders have graduated from Miami Dade College, and we want for that tradition to carry on for years to come.”

“We are thrilled to receive this generous gift from the Miami Marlins that will surely contribute to the success of our students for years to come,” said MDC Interim President Dr. Rolando Montoya. “Being first in your family to obtain a college degree is a life-changing accomplishment and has the potential to inspire others to do the same.”
