Mayor Baraka to Distribute More Than 6,000 Turkeys to Newark Residents Today

Today, Mayor Baraka is to distribute more than 6,000 turkeys to Newark, New Jersey residents. The event sponsored by Believe in Newark and co-sponsored by HelloFresh, Goya Foods, Pepsi, Sylvia’s, Whole Foods Market, Riviana Foods, Bindi North America, Inc., CityPlex12, and Brantley Brothers. Newark needs help because it probably has a high crime rate, although there are nice people in Newark. The mayor seems like a nice guy.
Sylvia’s Restaurant, Sylvia’s Soul Food Products, Riviana Foods, The Brantley Brothers Transportation Company is to distribute more than 6,000 turkeys and additional food products to Newark residents today, Monday, November 25, from Noon to 7 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy Recreation Center, 211 W. Kinney Street. The center’s entrance is on Howard Street.
The City is grateful for the generous support this year from its sponsor, the Believe in Newark Foundation, and the co-sponsors:
· HelloFresh: Delivering 3,000 kits of mashed potato kits and cranberry cans
· Goya Foods: Donating 4,000 pounds of food
· Pepsi: Donating 3,000 cans of assorted Pepsi products
· Sylvia’s Restaurant: catering lunch for the volunteers
· Sylvia’s Soul Food Products: donating 6,000 units of Sylvia’s Food Product Seasonings and Sylvia’s Hot Sauce
· Whole Foods Market: $500 donation
· Riviana Foods: 6,000 units of Ronzoni
· Bindi North America, Inc.: 801 Dulce de Leche Cheesecakes
· CityPlex12: donating 450 turkeys
· Brantley Brothers: transporting donations to the JFK site.
Pre-registered residents from each of the City’s five wards are to receive their free turkey in time for Thanksgiving. More than 6,000 turkeys will be given away. ShopRite of Newark will provide the turkeys.
Nay’s Delectable Eats, Lite & Soul Eatery, Assemblywoman Shanique Speight, Cassanova Grill, and Latin Flavor will provide free samples to Newark residents who participate in today’s turkey give away.
