Salt River won the Arizona Fall League Championship with a 5-1 victory over Surprise on Saturday.

·                     OF Jerar Encarnacion hit a go-ahead grand slam in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie

·                     Encarnacion, OF Víctor Víctor Mesa (1x4, r, sb), and 2B José Devers (2x4) combined to go 4x11 with a home run and four RBI in the championship game

The Miami Marlins were awarded the inaugural AFL Organization Leadership Award for their contributions to the league and the Salt River Rafters.

·                     The award honors the MLB club that “meets or exceeds their obligations to their four AFL team partners, and optimizes their league participation.”

RHP Nick Neidert went 2-0 with a 1.25 ERA (21.2 ip/3 er), holding opponents to a .205 average, 0.83 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts against two walks.

·                     He ranked fifth in the AFL in WHIP and sixth in ERA.

In the Dominican Winter League, 1B Lewin Diaz has reached safely in six consecutive games, going 5x23 (.217) with a home run, four RBI, three walks (two intentional), and a hit-by-pitch (.333 obp).

·                     He is tied for the LIDOM lead in extra-base hits (6), and ranks third in RBI (10).

In the Mexican Winter League, LHP Mike Kickham earned the win on Saturday with 6.0 shutout innings, allowing four hits and one walk, with seven strikeouts.

·                     He has not allowed a run through 16.0 innings over his three starts, and is limiting opponents to a .132 average

·                     He leads the LMP in ERA, average against, and WHIP (0.63), while ranking sixth with 16 strikeouts
