Congressman Eliot Engel, a member of the Congressional Arts Caucus, announced today that Scarsdale Union Free School District has been named a Best Community for Music Education in the U.S. by the National Association of Music Merchants

I drove through Scarsdale, New York once it's a nice town in the Hudson Valley! I am from the west coast of the Hudson River.

“I am pleased to learn that the Scarsdale Union Free School District is being recognized for promoting music education, and I am very proud of the teachers, faculty, and students who have continued to work hard to garner this wonderful honor,” Congressman Engel said. “Music and the arts are vital to every child’s education. At a time when drastic cuts to education are being pushed by the GOP in Washington, it is more important than ever for us to stand in support of music programs like those offered in Scarsdale, which broaden our students’ horizons and improves academic success. It does indeed take a Village, and this honor from NAMM is highly regarded as validation of the superb music education program we provide to the children, adolescents and young adults of our district.”  I played in the band and the orchestra in school.
