Glenn Fine, Nominee for Inspector General, Department of Defense
Glenn Fine is Principal Deputy Inspector General at the Department of Defense, a position he has held since 2015. Since January 2016, Mr. Fine has served concurrently as the Acting Inspector General at the Department of Defense. He was a Partner at Dechert LLP from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, Mr. Fine worked at the Department of Justice, serving as the Inspector General from 2000 to 2011 and as Special Investigative Counsel to the Inspector General and Director of the Special Investigations and Review Section from 1995 to 2000. Earlier in his career, Mr. Fine worked as an attorney at Bredhoff & Kaiser from 1989 to 1995 and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia from 1986 to 1989. Mr. Fine received a B.A. from Harvard College, an A.B. from Pembroke College at Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Virginia Johnson, Nominee for Member, National Council on the Arts
Virginia Johnson is Artistic Director of the Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH), a positions she has held since 2010. Ms. Johnson was a founding member and principal dancer at DTH from 1969 to 1997. She was Founder and Editor-in-Chief for POINTE Magazine from 2000 to 2009 and Adjunct Professor at Marymount Manhattan College from 1998 to 2002. Ms. Johnson choreographed for Goucher College, Dancers Respond to AIDS, and the Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center from 1997 to 2005. Ms. Johnson is a graduate of the Academy of the Washington School of Ballet.
Sylvia Orozco, Nominee for Member, National Council on the Arts
Sylvia Orozco is Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Mexic-Arte Museum of Austin, Texas, positions she has held since 1984. Ms. Orozco served on the Advisory Board of the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center from 2008 to 2012 and the Mayor’s Community Cabinet in Austin, Texas from 2009 to 2011. She was inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame in 2009 and received the Ohtli Award from the Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior from the General Consulate of Mexico in Austin in 2007. Ms. Orozco received a B.F.A. from The University of Texas at Austin.
Jane Doggett, Nominee for Member, National Council on the Humanities
Jane “Jamie” Doggett has operated a family ranch with her husband in western Montana since 1983. Ms. Doggett is also a Liaison to Montana State University, a position she has held since 2016. She was County Commissioner in Meagher County, Montana from 1996 to 2008. Ms. Doggett served as Chair of the National Board of the Federation of State Humanities Councils from 2001 to 2003 and the Montana Committee for the Humanities from 1993 to 1996. She was first appointed to the National Council on the Humanities in 2006 and received the Montana Governor's Humanities Award in 2005. Ms. Doggett received a B.A. from Montana State University.
Dr. Dianne Harris, Nominee for Member, National Council on the Humanities
Dr. Dianne Harris is Dean of the College of Humanities and Professor in the Department of History at The University of Utah, positions she has held since 2015. Dr. Harris held several positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1996 to 2015, including Director of the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities from 2008 to 2015, Principal Investigator for the New Fellowship Program in Emerging Areas of the Humanities from 2014 to 2015, and Principal Investigator for the Humanities Without Walls consortium from 2013 to 2015. She serves on the boards of the Utah Humanities Council and the National Humanities Alliance. Dr. Harris received a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
